The first Optometrist on duty opens the department, takes a round in the department, updates first the 6 consultations rooms with consumables like eye drops, lenses, OPD instruments and stationery and cleaning of the instruments.


Updating of the 7 Procedure rooms.


Preliminary examination of the patient, which consists of complete history taking, refraction. Checking IOP, Color vision and then putting dilating drops if necessary for further consultation by the Ophthalmologist and management.


To do diagnostic procedures like IOL master, A-scan, Perimetry, FDT, Corneal Topography, Pachymetry, and Specular Microscopy.


Contact lens fitting which includes trial, ordering, teaching and dispensing of contact lenses.


Surgical co-ordination which includes counseling of various surgery packages, completion of all reports and papers required for surgery, scheduling of surgery, giving pre-operative instructions, giving list of IOLs as per the surgery list to the stores to be ordered and then handing over the final and complete papers to the Sister-in charge of OT.


Typing of Discharge summary.


Indenting &stock maintenance of consumables and stationery of OPD.


Co-ordination between Consultants and patients.


Management information system.


Giving OPD instruments for sterilization and retrieving it back from CSSD department.


Equipment day-to-day maintenance and operation.


Low visual Aids.


And then finally at the end of the day the optometrist takes a round in the department, switches off all the instruments and closes the department.


Every day the OPD MIS report is done and forwarded though the concerned.


And then the department keys are handed to the security.
